Please give us a short summary of your website?
I have gathered items from around the world to create a metaphysical marketplace resembling an actual brick and mortar metaphysical shop. I am constantly searching for new and unique items to add to the mix!
What inspired you to launch your own website?
When my mother became ill with dementia, I had to give up my bookstore in order to care for her. I started the website as a way to make money while doing my duty as a daughter, but it has really turned into a labor of love.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I lived for a number of years in Colorado and the gorgeous canyons there inspired the name.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
My website has a more general focus than most other metaphysical/pagan websites. I wanted to be less about scaring people and more about educating them.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to make an income doing this.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far, (my website is about 4 months old) I have more invested than has been returned. My website is new though so I do hope that with continued promotion that will change.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would hire a professional web designer to completely re-vamp the site, I would hire an SEO professional to bring my site up in the page rankings. I would advertise lots more.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes!
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The only thing I can think of is the minimum order amounts that some wholesalers impose. I have to sit on inventory that I don't really need, which I have neither the money nor the room for.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been promoting my website on an extremely limited budget.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
So far, linking to like-minded directories, google ad-words, and plain, old giving out cards and telling people I meet about it.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It is far more complicated and complex than I realized but also more fun and creative. I was completely ignorant about the whole page rank and SEO topics, so I have had to do pretty extensive research.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I have been running my site for a little over four months and I plan to keep it going indefinitely. No
