Paranormal is a term used to described events and experiences that science doesn't have an explanation for. It go from ghost haunting historical places, UFO, Bigfoot, Crop circle and so on.You might have crossed the term Paranormal Investigation, like "Most Haunted on Travel Channel where a group of people, psychics, historians, and skeptics that will try to investigate a haunted place, know what happened there and communicate with the dead.
Present trends of paranormal still appears in TV shows but now they don't use any psychic help at all. Shows like Scifi's Ghost Hunters uses scientific approach with equipments like EMF detectors, thermal imaging etc. There are even tour operation which features investigating haunted places.
